On behalf of the American Society of Criminology’s (ASC) Division of Experimental Criminology (DEC) and Division of Policing (DOP), we invite submissions for a special issue of the Journal of Experimental Criminology (JEC) dedicated to Experiments in Policing and Public Safety. Scholars employing experimental methods, including laboratory, field and quasi-experiments, to test questions related to policing and public safety are encouraged to submit their work for consideration.

Interested authors should submit a structured abstract of 150 words or less via e-mail to the Special Issue Editors by March 6, 2026. The Special Issue Editors will provide decisions on submitted abstracts by March 17, 2026. Authors of invited manuscripts will then be asked to submit their full manuscripts to the JEC for formal peer review by July 1, 2026. All submitted manuscripts must conform to the JEC’s guidelines as outlined on the journal’s website: https://link.springer.com/journal/11292/submission-guidelines. Consistent with the aims of the JEC, submitted manuscripts should advance criminological theory and/or the development of evidence-based crime and justice policy.

As an additional opportunity, submitting authors will be invited by the DEC and DOP to present their work on division-sponsored panels at the 2026 ASC Annual Meeting. Although not required for consideration in this Special Issue, we hope that this opportunity will enhance the exposure and impact of the submitted work.
Please direct all submissions and inquiries to the Special Issue Editors via e-mail at rylan_simpson@sfu.ca and jnix@unomaha.edu.
