After a fantastic journey at BNSF Railway leading database technology and enterprise data architecture, I have been impacted by “organizational restructuring”.  I am grateful for the amazing experiences I gained and the privilege of collaborating with a very talented group of individuals.  I am now looking forward to the path ahead, particularly in exploring opportunities that leverage artificial intelligence to drive innovation. Shift Left is becoming critical to building powerful, reusable data pipelines. Data modeling is critical to making Shift Left effective. In this second part of my two-part series on Data Modeling for Shift Left, we explore Hackolade's polyglot data modeling software tool. It supports collaborative, team-oriented data modeling with a graphical interface that lets the full spectrum of your organization, from developers and DBA's to business executives, communicate their requirements. Pascal Desmarets and his team have also extended traditional ER modeling for relational to a broad swath of non-relational data sources including document and graph databases. It is integrated with Confluent's Schema Registry.
