If there's a file extension for a middleware in your module you get this error in the downstream project:

Pre-transform error: Failed to resolve import "C:/Users/__MODULE__/core/dist/runtime/middleware/setup.ts" from "virtual:nuxt:C%3A%2FUsers%2F__MODULE__%2F.nuxt%2Fmiddleware.mjs". Does the file exist? 1:09:07 PM
  Plugin: vite:import-analysis
  File: virtual:nuxt:C%3A%2FUsers%2F__MODULE__%2F.nuxt%2Fmiddleware.mjs:2:20

Removing the extension fixes the error.

Walkthrough

The change updates the argument provided to the addRouteMiddleware function for the 'auth' middleware. Specifically, the file extension '.ts' is removed from the path, changing it from 'runtime/auth.ts' to 'runtime/auth'. No other modifications to the middleware configuration or its options are present in this update. There are no alterations to exported or public entities.

152-152: Correct omission of .ts extension in middleware path

Removing the file extension from runtime/auth properly aligns with Vite’s import resolution and resolves the downstream import error described in the PR. Please verify that other examples and references in the documentation consistently omit the .ts extension for middleware paths.
