In honor of Black History Month (US & Canada), Fastlyans came together to celebrate, learn, and build community alongside Blackly Employee Resource Group. From our Boom Box: Cookout Edition event, a high-energy music trivia experience honoring Black artists, to The Good Trouble Virtual Tour, an immersive look at Black resistance and collective action, the month was filled with joy, reflection, and meaningful dialogue. To celebrate community, we gathered in-person in the historic Five Points neighborhood near our Denver office and supported Black-owned businesses across all Fastly US offices. By intentionally investing in Black-owned businesses, we honored the vibrant culture, creativity, and impact that continues to inspire our teams and the broader community. The #AI speed ⏩ tax Fastly's 2026 Global Security Report surveyed 2,000 #IT professionals worldwide and uncovered a troubling pattern: AI-first businesses take 80 days longer to recover from security incidents than their peers. The rush to adopt AI has created new vulnerabilities. Incidents now cost AI-first companies 135% more on average, consuming 3.13% of annual revenue. Meanwhile, 64% report AI content scraping as a material cost center at $350,000+ annually, and 44% of attacks now target AI infrastructure directly. Backed by insights from security professionals across sectors and regions, the report reveals how threat models and investment priorities are shifting. Agentic AI infrastructure (56%) now ranks above API security (55%) and traditional web application firewalls (54%). Delivering a TV-like experience over the internet isn’t simple — especially at massive scale. In this new case study, Youshin, Backend Engineer at "ABEMA" - AbemaTV, Inc., shares how the team built a real-time system supporting WebSocket, SSE, and Short Polling to instantly reflect broadcast changes, schedule updates, and live status events — without relying on traditional request/response polling.
