BUILD COMPLETION: We’re proud to announce the official completion of Embassy Village MCR -The UK’s First‑of‑Its‑Kind Community Supporting People Out of Homelessness. Delivered beneath 22 transformed railway arches in Castlefield, Manchester; this pioneering project provides 40 high‑quality, fully furnished homes for the homeless, a village hall, multi‑use sports area, allotments and thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces. It represents a new benchmark in how cities can combine innovation, social value and partnership to create long‑term impact. Embassy Village was brought to life through an extraordinary pro‑bono collaboration of more than 130 businesses, alongside substantial philanthropic and public funding. Built on land provided by Peel Waters, the project has been driven by the Greater Manchester‑based charity Embassy, with the support of The Moulding Foundation, Capital&Centric, Vermont Construction and a wider team of partners who generously donated their time, skills and materials. More than 200 partners and supporters joined us onsite to celebrate the official opening - a moment that recognised the scale of collaboration behind this achievement and the shared commitment to creating real, sustainable change for people experiencing homelessness. James Whittaker, Managing Director of Peel Waters, commented: “Watching Embassy Village reach completion is one of the proudest moments of my career. Walking through the finished homes and seeing this once‑forgotten space transformed into a place of safety, dignity and hope is incredibly moving. What makes it even more special is knowing that this wasn’t achieved by one organisation alone, but by an entire city coming together with compassion, generosity and belief in what’s possible. I am profoundly proud of everyone who has contributed; every business, every volunteer, every partner who gave their time, skills and heart to make this vision a reality. Embassy Village shows what can happen when Manchester unites behind a purpose. It will change lives for years to come, and I’m honoured that Peel Waters has played a part in helping create a new beginning for so many.” With construction now complete, residents will begin to move in from mid‑March - but the work doesn’t stop here. Embassy is actively fundraising to support ongoing staffing and wrap‑around services, ensuring every resident has access to the guidance, training and pathways needed to build a sustainable, independent future. 👉 To support the ongoing work of Embassy Village, visit: https://lnkd.in/e5KkWNtT This project demonstrates what can be achieved when the public, private and voluntary sectors unite with a shared purpose. DRONE PROGRESS UPDATE: Chatham Waters Care Home In our latest drone progress video watch how far the new 75‑bed care home has come since construction began in June. From the foundations to the recent topping out ceremony, the transformation has been remarkable. This purpose-built care home will sit at the centre of the Chatham Waters neighbourhood and play an important role in supporting Medway’s growing need for high‑quality later‑living accommodation and specialist dementia care. What makes this development truly special is the combination of innovation, community value and partnership working behind it. Delivered by Montpelier Estates, Apex Contractors Limited, and Peel Waters, the project uses a modern offsite-led construction approach - allowing the structural frame to be installed in just 12 weeks and 2 days. This method not only boosts programme certainty and quality but has already helped the project divert 100% of waste from landfill. Once complete, the four-storey home will offer: - A dementia‑friendly bistro café (open to the wider community to use) - Hair & nail salon (also open to the community to use) - Cinema room - Sensory rooftop residents' garden - Social and community spaces designed to foster connection, wellbeing and dignity The Chatham Waters Care Home will also play a vital role in easing pressure on local NHS services by providing much‑needed step‑up and step‑down care, just 1.4 miles from Medway Maritime Hospital. This development represents another important step in the wider regeneration of Chatham Waters - where more than £150m has already been invested, delivering new homes, education facilities, public realm, and amenities for the local community. 🎥 Watch the drone update here: https://lnkd.in/e_h4khYX Huge thanks to our partners and everyone involved for helping bring this vision to life. Waterfront UTC was pleased to welcome James Whittaker from Peel Waters yesterday for a visit that provided valuable insight into our facilities, curriculum, and the enthusiasm of our students. The visit allowed James to witness first-hand our students’ learning capabilities, their ongoing skill development, and the eagerness they show towards their education as a key contributor to their future aspirations. During the tour, James observed work produced by our current T Level students, including CAD designs developed as part of a recent employer-set task provided by one of our valued employer partners, Apex Contractors Limited. This showcased how real-world industry challenges are embedded into learning, enabling students to build relevant technical skills and professional confidence. Following the tour, James delivered an engaging presentation to our Year 9 and 10 students, outlining the development of Chatham Waters over the years. He shared insights into the long-term vision for the area and where Peel Waters sees the development progressing over the next 10+ years, helping students understand the scale, ambition, and opportunities within local regeneration projects. Building on the visit, James and members of the Waterfront UTC team walked over to Apex’s current site, where students have been attending weekly visits. There, they met with representatives from Apex Contractors and MONTPELIER ESTATES LIMITED to see the progress of the project and gain further understanding of how industry collaboration supports student learning. Throughout the visit, James gained a comprehensive insight into the work taking place at Waterfront UTC and the consistent, active engagement between the school and Apex, which plays a vital role in encouraging aspirations within the construction and engineering industries. Students benefited greatly from the opportunity to gain detailed industry insight and see first-hand the developments taking place within their local area. A huge thank you to Emma Green for her support in arranging the visit, to James Whittaker for his continued support of Waterfront UTC, and to Montpelier Estates, Apex Contractors, and their representatives for providing students with valuable information, experiences, and inspiration about the industry and the exciting futures it holds. #STEMeducation #STEMlearning #IndustryKnowledge #IndustryExperience #EmployerEngagement #CareersInConstruction #EngineeringCareers #ValuableInsight #Development #YoungPeople
