Artist Luke Jerram will turn Peel Cathedral into a Mars-dedicated art installation

A new art installation dedicated to Mars will be unveiled at Peel Cathedral later this month.

Bristol-born artist Luke Jerram's Mars: From Imagination to Science will run from 7 February to 2 March at Cathedral Isle of Man.

Free workshops and educational talks dedicated to the red planet will also be held, alongside a ticketed Manx ceili.

The giant Mars sculpture has previously been exhibited in several UK locations, as well as in France, Singapore, Australia, India and the United States.

The nearly month-long event, supported by the Isle of Man's Art Council, will also feature talks about the potential for life on Mars and the prospect of a manned journey to the red planet, chaired by Stuart Mullan from the Mars Society.

The 30-minute sessions will be held on several dates between 7 and 28 February.

Those wanting to attend the exhibition's launch party can buy tickets for £22, whilst tickets for the Manx Ceili start at £5.

Debates and orchestral concerts have also been scheduled.

Last year Jerram unveiled a giant moon sculpture which hung from Peel Cathedral's roof.

Jerram said more than 20 million people had visited the artwork in more than 40 countries.

More than 13,000 people visited a similar exhibition at St Thomas' Church in Douglas in 2024, which featured Jerram's giant illuminated model of the Earth.
